Matthew 6:33 (New Living Translation)
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
Passion is strong and a barely controllable emotion. Passions in our life causes us to act and react to situations. For example if you have children and someone does something to harm them, you probably would become very passionate about making the situation right and bring justice to the person that is trying to hurt your child. But passion without purpose is simply uncontrollable emotion that will end up in death.
Jesus said to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Righteousness in it's simplest form is being in right standing with God. The Kingdom of God is God's form, fashion, and way of life. Kingdom is a King that has a dominion. So, when we make Jesus the Lord of our Life, we make Him King over all our Kingdom or life. Another way of putting this is He is the owner, and we are the managers. As managers, we must always consult the Owner in every area of our life to bring about His best interest for our lives.
When we do this, our passions will have purpose. In John 2:17 it says
Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures: “Passion for God’s house will consume me.
Jesus had walked into the temple and found they were miss using the House of God. He then began to remove those that had wrongfully used the House of God. He had passion and purpose. Jesus said at the end "My house will be called a House of Prayer"; His passion had purpose.
Today, make sure your passions are not derived from a bad root or an emotional scar. Let it be with God ordained purpose.
God Bless,
Pastor Mark
